The Lady Maxwell Room at Buittle Castle

Absolutely gorgeous room, the castle and grand hall also had a lovely historical feeling about them. The host was really friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely and I've never eaten anywhere so grand before.

Bed a bit soft for my bad back, but that's only my preference.

The peaceful location. Hospitality from the host was exeptional as was the private dining. I would recommend a stay there.

Nothing to dislike.

The owner Tobias was a lovely person, he gave us some history to the building and explained about the sunken garden, we arrived early so sent us on a little walk which was nice, The rooms are "quirkly", and the added sherry in the room was a nice touch. The breakfast was whatever you picked the night before and was served off the courtyard in a very nice setting, which was brought to you on your individual salver. Very thoughtful

The rooms felt quite dark The bed wasn't the most comfy, but we stayed in a castle which was great

What a beautiful romantic setting. If you like historic buildings, you will love staying here. On arrival in the car park, The lovely Tobias came out to greet us! (How often does that happen!) A most friendly and helpful man. Showing us to our beautiful room. decorated in the period of the castle. A decanter of sherry greeted us on the table. (A lovely touch). A book on the table tells of the history of the castle. Plenty of teas and coffees and good wifi. Good shower. The four poster bed was most comfortable. The room looked out over gardens and the countryside. Breakfast was across the courtyard in the Great Hall, oozing with history. Again, Tobias was most attentive looking after us and cooking our delicious breakfast. We came away from there feeling most relaxed. Thank you Tobias!
