The Fullerton Hotel Sydney

Courteous and helpful staff. Comfortable bed. Beautiful lobby. The location is perfect, central to shopping and not far to Circular Quay. Allowed early check in as room was available, which was wonderful after being on an early morning flight.

The pillows sink down to nothing, so having one additional pillow in the cupboard, a different style, was essential. However, I wasn't sure whether the pillowcase was clean. Our desk lamp didn't work, and I called for someone to fix it, but no one came. That made it hard to work on my documents. The plate on the bathroom door hinge fell off. The room and furniture show signs of age and wear and tear. I didn't like booking a clock tower room, only to receive a room with no view of the clock tower. Some surfaces were dirty, so I had to wipe them down with wet wipes.

Beautiful building in a beautiful location, lovely rooms, very comfortable.

It wasn't clear in the rooms what food and drink was complimentary and what was charged. This led to a misunderstanding that took some time to resolve This would have been avoided if we were shown to our room or if there was a notice

1 . The chairs in the Bar are dated tired and the cloth dirty. In one case the arm rest is broken. On further inspection some of the leather chairs are in a tired state detracting from the aesthetics. 2. Lack of concierge and porter staff in busy time of check in and check out. 3. The driveway and concierge are lacking management and direction. Collection of my motor car was in excess of 15 minutes due to lack of staff and mislabelling the key tag, IE the incorrect vehicle was brought up. This this would not be mentioned. It is a identifiable ongoing problem and compounding the ongoing delay.

Excellent shower and a comfortable bed (though the pillows were too soft). Clean room with a nice view of the clock tower. Excellent location on Martin Place. Staff were helpful. Great restoration and use of a beautiful heritage building, which was seamlessly integrated with the modern tower.

The most disappointing aspects were the food options. The room's coffee machine was a specialty one (could not use standard pods). They provided only three pods each day, and they were quite old, as the coffee inside had gone hard and produced little more than brown water. The Bar was tired, and the seats sagged. We were surprised that the food in the main restaurant (The Place) was more like a good pub meal than fine dining. The food arrived lukewarm, and given the Fullerton's reputation in Singapore, we were very disappointed that the satay was tasteless. The ketupat was just pressed soggy rice (not cooked in palm leaves), there were only 3 limp pieces of onion and cucumber, and the sauce was bland. Fitness facilities are also disappointing for a hotel of this standard.
