Hotel Bären Am Bundesplatz

Lovely hotel in the old town and just steps from the train station, Aare river and all the historic streets. So easy to make day trips and use city transit (free with stay). Our double room was well appointed, spacious and the AC worked well. Staff was very helpful and they also let us store our bags for a few hours after we checked out. Main floor has a small self serve drinks/cafe area where breakfast is also served in the morning. Lovely for a quick drink - with free coffee and tea all day! My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Wonderful hotel worth a prime location. Just a few blocks from the Bahnhof, Bundesplatz right across the street, and just blocks from everything else. The lobby provides free still and sparkling water. There were free drinks and cookies upon check in. And there was free ice cream being offered because of the ongoing heatwave. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

Let me start by saying that I'm a travel writer, and I've stayed in thousands of hotels. I was not paid for this review, nor did I get any payment or freebies for writing it. This hotel is about as perfect as it gets. First, let me commend the staff, Vera, Lyudmyla, Angelina, Joana, Patricia, and Julia. They were all exquisitely trained and so nice. Other than that: 1) Location is excellent. 2 blocks from the train station, steps away from the Market Square, 5-7 minutes to Old Town. Perfectly safe neighborhood. 2) None of this nonsense where you have to re-login to the WiFi every 24 hours. I signed on and it worked flawlessly for 5 days. 3) The room: very comfortable bed, quality linens, many TV stations and a printed list of channels by language, plugs next to the bed, bathroom with a tub, large bathroom sink countertop, safe, mini fridge, kettle, hair dryer, coffee machine with free coffee pods, printed out instructions for thermostat, insulated windows to keep noise out and earplugs for anyone who wants to keep the windows open, clipboard with info about the hotel in the room. 4) Common areas: large dining room for breakfast but accessible all day for free snacks & drinks. A library of books to read. Sofas and chairs with comfy cushions outside the front entrance for people watching or drinks. They do everything right in this hotel. If you’re visiting Bern, I highly recommend this place.
