Mellingen is located very close to Weimar and can be reached in 15 minutes via the beautiful Feininger Bike Trail. This bike trail winds its way along the Ilm River through small Thuringian villages in a picturesque landscape. The cultural city of Weimar, the university town of Jena, the art and bell-making town of Apolda, and the state capital of Erfurt are all easily accessible by car, train, or bike. There is a well-stocked supermarket in town, as well as a small bakery right next to the Mühlenhof. You can enjoy a delicious meal at the “Auf der Burg” restaurant in Mellingen.
