MARUMI HOTEL Uguisudani鶯谷

No staff at the hotel but online very helpful and quick to respond. We found by accident there are two MARUMI hotels within close distance of each other as we went to wrong one! We were very tired after long flight and delay at airport. The staff at the other hotel could not have been nicer and more helpful. They ordered us a taxi and made sure we got to our actual hotel quickly. Couldn’t thank them enough

Das Hotel ist über die JY/JK-Linien und den Shinkansen (Ueno Station) sehr gut angebunden. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Zimmer ist schön eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Die Kommunikation über booking.com mit dem Personal war sehr gut.

Es ist keine vollständige Verdunkelung des Zimmers möglich. Geräusche durch die große Straße und die Bahnlinie in der Nähe sind hörbar. Wer beim Schlaf geräusch- oder lichtempfindlich ist sollte das beachten. Die Matratzen sind sehr hart. Wer weiche Matratzen benötigt sollte das beachten. Das Internet ist für Streaming oder Arbeiten zu langsam. Funktioniert aber für Kurznachrichten gut.

The apartment was so spacious which was very welcome after a week of very compact hotel rooms with 2 teenagers! It was clean, beautifully presented, and had a combined washing machine/dryer in the apartment, which was very helpful. The bathroom bench had 2 sinks and plenty of bench space, which was a luxury anyone who shares a bathroom with a teenage girl will appreciate (probably boys too, mine just isn't there yet!) The location was ideal, only a couple of hundred metres from a train station with easy access to Ueno and Asakusa. It was also an easy walk to Tokyo Museum. There were plenty of great little local Izakaya downstairs and in the nearby streets. It doesn't have a lift, but aside from getting suitcases up and down, it was no hassle. By day 8 in Japan, we were very accustomed to stairs and large step count days!!! Although there were no staff on site, they were very responsive and helpful online. We would definitely recommend staying at Marumi, and will seek out their apartments the next time we visit Japan.

Carrying suitcases up 5 floors of stairs, but that was literally the only downside.
