Auberge Saintlo Montréal Hostel

It is a lovely place to call home base for a few days.

I had one roommate that got in late and woke early making a lot of noise- these things happen.

First time staying at a hostel and really enjoyed it. Walking distance to the train, buses, and stores and restaurants downtown. Staff was friendly and super helpful.

Maybe I'm a little bit vain but having a full length mirror in the room would be nice.

I liked almost everything if I compare it with a recent experience I just have, it's very good. The price/ quality ratio was very good. It offers a good service at almost the same level as the competition in Montreal. And it was a good relief for me after spending my weekend in another Auberge of the same category for a much higher price for a very small and uncomfortable room in Quebec city (by the way is a very beautiful city) with a very inexisting service. I am very disappointed with this place for this very high price with a very poor quality.

As I said it was a relief for me, after the previous experience in the other Auberge, I didn't have time to dislike anything.

Pros: super close to Metro lines (if your credit card is tap only, buy a ticket from the Metro attendant, not the old machines); sturdy bunk beds that don't squeak; 2 electrical sockets for charging per bed; super clean everything; free towels if you switch them at reception in the morning; amazing location by tons of restaurants and attractions; great breakfast with bread/bagels plus Nutella, peanut butter, and some kind of strawberry or raspberry jelly, plus some bananas and orange slices; friendly and hardworking staff; grocery store one block away for cheap food and snacks.

Cons: smaller old metal lockers that squeak really loudly when you try to open them; not true privacy curtains because it only covers 75%-80% of your bunk bed; no true shower body wash/shampoo, just some weak foam hand soap in a crappy dispenser; putting the showers and toilets in the same room complicates things unnecessarily, so make sure to hunt down the one extra toilet and shower on each floor for later emergencies (the extra is also combined); it's not actually a bad thing at all, but there are tons of traveling kids for field trips here, so be respectful and responsible role models for them.
