Zen Kyoto Apartment Hotel

We stayed 4 nights at the Zen Kyoto Apartment Hotel and loved it! It’s outside of central Kyoto, but that is a positive. It’s in a peaceful location 5 minutes walk from Takeda station where you can get the train (Kintetsu Line) 2 stops to Kyoto station or direct to Nara, plus the subway (Karasuma Line) which takes you all over Kyoto in 10 minutes for 240 Yen (£1.20 / $1.50). The hotel feels nearly new, rooms are spacious, with small kitchenette, washing matching and drying room (bathroom) and were great value. There’s not a lot on your doorstep, but the 7-11 is 5 mins, a big supermarket (Super Matsumoto – Fushimi) 10 mins and a few restaurants within 10 minutes. Our favourite was ‘ ‘Chukaen’ - authentic Chinese food at bargain prices.

We had the most wonderful stay here! It’s right by the train station so easy to get around. The staff were so kind. As well as the koi fish being a highlight of my day giving them some food. The rooms have everything you need as well as a little balcony too.

The room resembled a normal japanese apartment with thigs like a stove and washing machine. But the bedroom area was just as good as any hotel room from a 3 or 4 star hotel. So if you want a hotel style accommodation with the facilities of an apartment, this is the perfect place

There was not much food or restaurant around the area so finding something to eat around the area was a little tricky.

The room was very clean, contemporary and had all amenities. The staff were amazing and so friendly. Be sure to hit the bar at night next to the lobby and elevator and visit with them. We had great conversations about things, my son played the piano in the bar as they is allowed and he is a very good player. Good times and very memorable.

It’s right next to the Takeda train station which is both great and somewhat bad at the same time. Great close access to the trains, but that also positions you a bit further from ‘things to do’ in town within easy walking distance. This is not a big negative, just plan accordingly for your stay.
