Bow cottage was well situated just outside Canterbury. It was a character cottage with good amenities and very comfortable. The stairs were a bit steep which was mentioned but easily manageable with the hand rail. The local pub was within easy walking distance and did excellent meals with welcoming staff. Overall an excellent option for visiting Canterbury and nearby coast.

Beautiful cottage, very welcoming and friendly host! Highly recommend!

Bow Cottage is situated in the delightful town of Fordwich in Kent, one of the Cinque ports and the smallest, English town. It is a most comfortable cottage, bright, well equipped, and ideal for people who want a place both in the country and near to the historic town of Canterbury. There are two dining pubs in the town, one boasting a Michelin Star and the other providing a good quality ‘click & collect’ lunch service. Local facilities include hiring canoes, kayaks and pleasure boats, as well as wild swimming for those sufficiently courageous to do so. Numerous walks criss cross the marshlands surrounding the Stour River and are well signed for those wishing to explore the area on foot. However, only a short drive from Fordwich one can visit the Tate at Margate, the charming Dickensian resort of Broadstairs, the great castles at Deal and Dover, or other of the Cinque ports, such as Sandwich, which hosts the Open Golf Championship every few years. The greatest praise, however, is reserved for our hostess who has welcomed us with warmth and flexibility in these grim, COVID times. As we await our second vaccine dosage, she has made our stay at Bow Cottage an interim ‘home’ where we can relax and recuperate after the winter months of lockdown and say our farewells to a beautiful part of Kent. Lovely place to stay, cosy cottage with everything required for a much needed break. Lovely local walks and the wood burner stove was wonderful for cosy evenings in. Lois was a lovely host, thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo
