Eden is an outstanding area for walking, whether you enjoy a hike on the high open fells or a gentle riverside stroll. If you cycle, you’ll love the quiet country lanes full of wildflowers and birds. There are attractions for the whole family including canoeing or a steamer trip on Ullswater (20 miles). Enjoy a ride on a restored railway high in the North Pennines or catch the Settle to Carlisle railway line (5 miles), famous for its wonderful scenery and the 24 arched Ribblehead Viaduct. The unspoilt destination will inspire and refresh you at any time of the year and a lively calendar of events throughout the year includes festivals, farmers’ markets, country and craft fairs, and traditional agricultural shows. This was a lovely 1st floor flat for 2 people (plus 1 dog) - it was comfortable, well appointed, clean, warm and had everything we needed for our stay. It was a shame the weather wasn't warm enough to use the balcony/terrace (although we did look at the stars one night).There have been comments about a noisy bed - we have to report that this was resolved for our stay - no issues experienced and there was a new mattress so the bed was actually very comfortable.The owners were friendly and helpful - and also very discrete.There are some lovely walks and places to visit - but most walks will require a car to get you there. Something also mentioned was the lack of Wi-Fi in the apartment - which is true, but we also struggled with mobile signal on 4G (O2), it was somewhat patchy. This didn't worry us (being a bit "old school" we had non-internet things to do, as well as our own DVDs/music), but if you rely on a good internet connection for your streaming entertainment you might struggle here. Just something to be aware of.

This was perfect for exploring the quieter edges of the lakes/ dales .
We loved the terrace for evening drinks.
Shame there was no Wi fi .
