Ardvreck House

We stayed for 1 night as part of our NC500 trip. This was our last but one stop and we can say we saved the best for last with this one. The hosts were so welcoming and the little touches in the room and accommodation make all the difference on elevating your experience. These were especially welcome for us having done a fair amount of driving that day. The bathroom was superb and breakfast was fantastic. The views from the lounge and dining room were beautiful and the entire property was was spotless with a cosy and warm feeling.

The one tiny change we woud request is for there to be some additional lighting by the mirror in the room, so two people can get ready at the same time, with one using the bathroom mirror.

What an amazing experience we had staying at Ardvreck House in Ullapool! Of all the places we stayed during our travels around Scotland, this was undoubtedly our favorite. Ardvreck House is an intimate, elegant 10-room bed and breakfast run by Neil and Aidan, whose attention to detail is evident everywhere. Our rooms were beautifully decorated, with sweeping, head-on views across Loch Broom that were simply breathtaking. There were thoughtful touches everywhere, from chocolates alongside the tea and coffee in our rooms to beautifully modern bathrooms with terrific showers and plenty of hot water, especially welcome after a long day of hiking. And then there was breakfast. The spread rivaled what we have found at many major hotels, with an enormous selection of fresh fruit and berries, cereals, yogurt and hot breakfast dishes, along with wonderful local touches such as Ullapool smoked salmon. All of it is served in a dining room overlooking the loch, making it difficult to decide whether to concentrate on breakfast or the view. We also loved the guest lounge, with its equally spectacular views and a wonderfully stocked honesty bar where you can help yourself to a glass of wine, a small bottle of Prosecco or a wee dram and simply write down what you have taken. There are even binoculars available for watching the wildlife on the loch. Other guests have apparently spotted dolphins from here, although sadly they didn’t make an appearance for us! Perhaps what we appreciated most, particularly after staying in several larger hotels, was how personal everything felt. We arrived late on our first evening and found our room keys waiting for us with handmade tags. It was such a small thing, but perfectly captured the warmth of the place. And did I mention the views?! Ardvreck House is perched on the hillside above Loch Broom, just a few minutes outside Ullapool, giving it the kind of cinematic, sweeping views that literally stop you in your tracks. We were so glad we had

Absolutely incredible views, lovely rooms, breakfast was delicious. Aidan was extremely accommodating, communicative and welcoming. This is a beautiful place to stay in Ullapool, we stayed as a family and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back.
