Hôtel Carré Vieux Port

The location simply couldn’t be better, right at the Vieux Port, which makes everything very convenient. The staff were kind and helpful, and the breakfast was decent and enjoyable. Overall, a solid choice, particularly because of the unbeatable location and comfy room.

There are two minor things worth mentioning. First, having to leave the room key at reception whenever you go out is a little inconvenient. I understand the reason for the system, but it feels somewhat outdated nowadays, and a card/key-card system would be much more convenient. Second, the Wi-Fi requires you to reconnect and register every time you return to the room, rather than connecting automatically. I often forgot to do this and ended up using my mobile data without realizing it.

The location is fantastic - a minute from the Old Port and all the bars and restaurants. The room had air-conditioning which was very much needed. The room was quiet, which was surprising considering how close it was to the port. The staff that I met were very nice. The bed was comfortable. I liked that it was possible to cast things from my phone to watch on the screen.

The room was a bit like a cell. No desk or chair, just a bed that was folded out from the wall, a small table just big enough for my backpack, and a squishy pouffe thing that it was not possible to sit on as it was too squishy. The bathroom was ok, but the toilet was in a space between the shower and the wall. I'm a bigger, older person with occasional instability due to arthritic ankles. I had to back into the toilet space and - I'm trying to think of a delicate way to phrase this - the width of the space was not enough to allow hygienic practice while still seated on the toilet. I measured with my hands and it was no more than 60cm (2 ft).

Close to Metro and the port. Very comfortable bed.

Location, friendly staff, let us stay 1 hour after check out, dog friendly.

I wouldn't stay here more than 1 night, we only stayed because we couldn't find another place before we go to our Airbnb. The room is really outdated and doesn't feel clean, we found an insect on the towels!
