Hotel Scheuble

Convenient for the train station, walk by the river and local bars/restaurants and shopping. Comfy bed. Excellent breakfast- the best Ive ever had at a hotel.

No airconditioning. Fan provided but inadequate. No iron/ironing board in the room. The hotel wanted £14 for them to iron an shirt and trousers- This is ridiculous and unreasonable given the price we have already paid for the room. They gave the reason for no iron as due to concerns re the floor being marked by a hot iron? We did eventually get the service for free. I refused to pay for the service at checkout. Take your own travel iron would be my advice.

Very comfortable hotel and well located, within walking distance of most attractions. Very friendly staff.

Everything was fine.

Location was good. Not too far from the train station and on the edge of the pedestrian area/old town. Easy to walk to restaurants. Bed and pillows good. Good shower -- pressure and temp good. Staff very nice and welcoming.

Glass walled bathrooms should be outlawed. Who ever thought this was a good idea? It is not sexy, it is not appealing. Room small, but that is pretty typical in central Zürich. The shower didn't manage water well so it splashed outside on the floor and the bath towels are very small.

Great location, clean building, clean room. Room looks recently modernized. Check in/out was easy. No hassles with the hotel.

We chose this more expensive hotel specifically because it said it has AC. It does have a weak AC but the hotel controls it and turns it off at night. Noise from the street and the church bells going every 15 minutes makes sleeping with an open window for air a skill not a convenience. Bathroom has a giant clear glass wall & door with a thin strip of mild frosting. Then they etched words into the frosting that you can see through and put mirrors around so you easily see into the bathroom with peripheral vision. Not sure my wife would like the lack of privacy but I know my father didn't. Mattresses are pretty thin. In 8 different hotels I used on my vacation this bed was the only one that made my back a little sore. Breakfast was a typical cold German/Swiss continental buffet for €23/$27. It definitely is not a good value with breakfast cafes just meters away. However this is a common problem across European hotels and is not unique to Hotel Scheuble.
