El Fuerte Marbella

Loved our stay at El Fuerte. The location is perfect, and the calm, beautiful atmosphere makes you feel on holiday the moment you’re in the hotel. The staff were genuinely friendly and accommodating, including with our early check-in and late check-out. Beautiful decor, and we really enjoyed the complimentary activities such as the wine tasting.

The only downside was the price for a partial sea-view room, and we found the room layout a little awkward with the bathroom sinks right by the entrance.

Excellent location with a beautiful sea view. The pool was lovely, the breakfast was exceptional, and the room was beautifully designed.

The hotel entrance and lobby were beautiful, with a lovely scent. Our room was spacious and had a very nice terrace.

The bathroom was extremely small and the tap was loose and faulty. The hot and cold settings worked in the opposite direction to the markings, and I accidentally burned my skin the first time I used it. The bath also did not drain properly, so dirty water collected while showering. On the morning of check-out, there was no water for about an hour, so we were unable to shower before leaving. Communication with housekeeping was difficult as the staff we encountered did not understand English. We also had an unpleasant experience with a member of staff at the pool who spoke to us quite sharply after misunderstanding the situation, although he later apologised. The beach area was not what we expected from the description, and the breakfast selection was limited, with several items already finished by around 9:30 and not replenished. Overall, these issues were disappointing for a luxury 5-star hotel, and we did not feel it offered good value for the price we paid.
