The Ascott

Location

No staff on reception in the morning. Had to wait for someone to notice me as I had left something in my room.

Friendly staff and warm welcome. Beautiful spacious light bedroom (room 10 on the top floor), more like a suite than a regular double which was a lovely surprise. I enjoyed having a sofa & coffee table to watch TV from. There was also a separate dressing table/desk as well as.a little.tea/coffee area. Lots of storage space.too. The hotel was nice & quiet at night. Good location for public transport links -right by a bus stop and only 10 min walk from Eccles train station.(or a car park for.drivers). The brochure supplied suggested a 7 min walk into Monton village which has lots of nice cafes & bars. I stopped at Oats & Honey cafe which was friendly & had a good stmosphere. I would definitely stay at The Ascott Hotel again and would.like to spend more time in Monton and doing some walks from there.

I couldnt find a plug for the bath so I could only use the shower, which was a bit disappointing. The plug for the sink wasn't attached to the chain so it got stuck and took a lot of effort to remove. Couple of cobwebs in the ensuite and some stains on the bedding but generally the room was nice & clean and I really enjoyed my stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Close location to good cafés and evening food places, also close to public transport. Parking available if you come by car. Friendly staff, comfortable room, clean.

Ok place but no full English like I expected when I booked breakfast included. The chair in the room was dirty and hadn’t been changed as we’d asked to arrive early due to us needing to be at a venue we’d booked, and check in was extremely later than others at 4pm. The guy explained he hadn’t had time to change the chair cover and said he’d do it when we went out. We didn’t want him coming into the room when we had all of our stuff there so told him to leave it. I then noticed the chair cover set which was out to use, I tried doing it myself but quickly noticed that the arms on that cover were minging too. I ended up telling the guy not to bother sorting the chair, we just won’t use it I said. I also told him I didn’t want anyone entering the room when we had left our belongings in there. I wouldn’t stay here again. The breakfast was disappointing but the lady was very jolly and lovely who brought our toast and tea.

Breakfast. Dirty chair and how they wanted to come into the room to sort it after we’d left our belongings in there.
