The Barnsdale, Rutland

Lovely location, friendly staff and great food. Powerful hot showers 😊 loved the complimentary wine on arrival.

Room was a bit old fashioned, needs a bit of modernising. Also it was advertised as a king bed but it’s 2 singles pushed together and there was a gap between the beds which made it a little uncomfortable. Hot tub wasn’t bubbly, just hot water .

I felt that the courtyard garden should be a big feature of the hotel but was not properly maintained, lots of leaves, even dead flowers and dead box trees on show, not a good look . Attention to detail inside the hotel could also be better. More hanging hooks in bathroom Tea/coffee in room a bit sparse and no decaffinated products available. had to ask for them.

Beautiful property, feels like a hidden getaway . Also the neighbouring surroundings are very beautiful too

Nice environment, room was a decent size and clean.

There were some damp patches in the ceiling of the room, some remedial work is required before it gets worse. The staff at breakfast were far from attentive. They had run out of plates and bowls, and it seemed to be a huge effort for someone to fetch replacements from the kitchen. Labels were missing from which milk was which so everyone was smelling them to figure out which to have. Asking for more cutlery seemed to be a debate about what was and wasn’t on the table (or what should or shouldn’t have been on them).
