Hotel Gradina Morii

This is a well-established spa hotel at the edge of town, next to a river at the foot of the mountains. Our room was large and comfortable, with a refreshing hillside view. The staff were friendly and professional, the breakfast good. The hotel has its own smallish car park and there is on-street parking outside.

Our experience was marred by the fact that the hotel was hosting a large wedding on the evening when we arrived. The receptionist warned us on arrival that it would be noisy and offered us a room in another building; we declined the offer and in fact the noise was not an issue. More of a problem was that the wedding group had booked out both the restaurant and the bar, so that there was no refreshment to be had at the hotel - let alone dinner. The only alternatives were a hotel-operated pizzeria with a limited menu or a walk into the centre of town. A pleasant walk took us to the main drag, but Sighetu has few restaurants and the one recommended by the hotel receptionist was booked out (probably for a wedding). We fell back on the universal alternative: a kebab shop. It would have been helpful if the hotel had contacted us in advance with information about the possible nuisance from the wedding and restaurant closure. This was the first of a few experiences which taught us that it's a good idea to ask ahead whether the hotel restaurant is open if you think you might be relying on it (for example if the hotel is in a small town or an isolated site).

I've stayed at this hotel and eaten at the restaurant before, and this time around, a few things were off. There was no body lotion in the room like they usually have, and I was greeted by mosquitoes. The shower had great pressure and looked newly renovated, but water was leaking out and making a wet mess around the toilet. The restaurant service and staff were good, but the food wasn't as great as I remembered. For example, their mici used to be the best in town, but this time they tasted like they were just store-bought and reheated. Another time, we waited over an hour for our food, so they definitely need to work on that.

Very nice accommodation. The area is Wonderful in the middle of nature, with amazing views. Parking is free and not a problem. Mostly everything was good; highly recommended.

Breakfast can be improved. Some minor maintenance is needed especially in the bathrooms.

Great location in park setting that felt like an oasis outside the city, good restaurant onsite

Elevators don’t serve the top (2) floors (floor 3 and 4), no air conditioning on floor 2 (my parents had a lot of trouble sleeping with the heat), hotel staff mowed the grass during breakfast on a Sunday morning despite a full outdoor patio of guests and multiple guests asking him to stop, hotel restaurant had good dishes & cocktails but much of the menu was unavailable since it was for their other restaurant (very confusing) and the food took over an hour to arrive (well beyond what we had experienced in Romania for the previous 2 weeks and with no explanation or apology).
