Beijing Shichahai Shadow Art Performance Courtyard

Great staff, shout out to Amy who was super helpful by ordering a power bank for us and supported the shadow art show. All staff were brilliant. The shadow art show and subsequent painting workshop was our highlight of the stay.

Super kind staff, helped carry my bags to my room on the 2nd floor, no lift, which I appreciated! Fantastic shadow puppet performance in the hotel foyer which was handy when I arrived tired but gave me something easy, close, and cultural to do! With cocktails at very affordable prices. Loved the vegetarian dumplings and sweet potato fries. Cute birds 2 parrots 🦜 Staff are the heart and soul of this hotel and deserve amazing 10/10 recommendations considering I just arrived and all my apps weren’t working as even my VPN didnt work and they made me feel like I arrived to a cousins house, so helpful and welcoming! Even gave me a hug farewell. Just beautiful kind lovely staff!!! And in a beautiful building.

Bed was hard as mattress thin but I used half my doona below me and the other half to cover on top of me and made it more comfortable. No bidet as per most of China My room #215 was a bit small and I couldn’t open my large suitcase without blocking the doorway. But other rooms looked much bigger.

The shadow puppet show was fantastic! We enjoyed getting involved and painting our own puppets too. Each and every staff member was incredibly helpful and really friendly, they helped booking taxis, gave advice about food and had lots of knowledge about the area. The location was in walking distance from lots of sights, restaurants and bars - we had a great stay!

The hotel common areas and dining room were beautifully decorated and appointed, tasteful with beautiful art. Good location close to beautiful lake and park. Staff were friendly and helpful although a bit too solicitous at times. Sad to miss the shadow puppet show!

The room itself was the smallest room we've ever stayed, we could not even walk around the mattress. There was no actual bed, only a mattress on a platform. Barely room to open your suitcase. Room needs a good though cleaning and coat of white paint. Shower door leaked water onto the floor.
