KABAJ Wine & Dine

Some places stay with you because of the room, others because of the view or the wine. Kabaj stays with you because of the way it makes you feel. From the moment we arrived, Katja Kabaj welcomed us with genuine warmth and a wonderful smile. Within minutes, we felt less like hotel guests and more like friends arriving at a home where we had been expected. The house itself seems to belong to a slower, more romantic world – a touch of Provence in the heart of Goriška Brda. Stone, wood, soft colours and countless thoughtful details create an atmosphere that feels effortlessly beautiful. Nothing is trying too hard to impress, and that is precisely why it does. In the morning, you wake to rolling hills and vineyards stretching beyond your window. Silence, soft morning light, and the kind of view that makes you forget to check the time. Breakfast follows the same philosophy: simple, excellent and exactly what you want after a long evening of beautiful food, conversation and several serious glasses of wine. But Kabaj’s greatest luxury isn’t found in things. It is waking among the vineyards, the sense of stillness, a glass of wine with a story behind it, and people who tell that story without a trace of pretension. We came to celebrate our anniversary and taste some remarkable wines. We left with something even better – the memory of a place that, for a little while, made life seem wonderfully slower. Perhaps the best compliment we can give Kabaj is this: on the way home, we didn’t talk about what we liked most. We talked about when we would come back.

A lovely family operated concern, where pride is evident in the service and food provided. The tasting menu was fabulous and provided an opportunity to taste a variety of local ingredients, cooked and served imaginatively. The location was beautiful and we were fortunate to have a balcony overlooking the vineyards. The room is spacious with a country, rustic feel, which works very well in the setting. The photos are accurate. Katja and family were very friendly and made us feel very welcome.

Everything was great here. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was big enough and clean. Breakfast was very good. And the 7 course meal was fabulous! We would stay here again!

There were only 3 pillows in the room (we checked all the closets) and we would have appreciated a 4th pillow.

The location , food , wine and hospitality were fabulous . It was an absolutely perfect setting , very traditional and authentic . We ate outside on the patio and had the 7 course tasting and wine pairing …..it was a sublime , it has created lasting memories of an incredible evening . Breakfast the next morning exceptional and there was so much of it . We will definitely return to Kabaj .

There was nothing to dislike about the property . I would of loved tea and coffee making facilities in the room , put that is personal preference and did not detract from our stay .
