Northfield Hotel

Easy check in, lovely lady at Reception and all the staff we encountered were really pleasant. Central to the sea front. Nice size room.

The room was above the kitchen so the extractor fans and staff banging about woke us up at 6.30am. The bathroom needed a deep clean, there were dead spiders, cobwebs, grime around the sink and bath, someone's hair around taps and plughole and a build up of dust around all the pipework were not nice. Also the head board was broken and knocked every time I moved in bed. When I inspected down the back of the head board, I could see that the area had not been hoovered in a long while.

My single room was excellent. The Queens Superior room that I booked for family members - a father & son - hadn't had the double bed split into twins as I had requested. It was corrected on the 2nd night. It had a Sea View, but was smaller than my Single Room! The Hotel Bar was shut before 11:00pm as we returned after our evening meals and entertainment, which was disappointing. Delightful Staff - young Emily at breakfast made our day. English breakfast was a little modest and I would liked to have seen more choices of cooked breakfasts. It was a trip down memory lane for me, as I lived and worked there back in the Seventies with my wife & 3 children in nearby Alcombe village. Overall, it was a pleasant get-away break for all the three of us.

Dated interior and impolite staff - expensive for what you get
