Bellavista Boutique Hotel

The Bellavista is situated in a great location, overlooking Lake Como and has easy access to Como via the funicular railway. Getting to the premises by car is not for the faint-hearted. But it is worth doing for the experience and for staying at the hotel. Breakfast is taken in the main dining area with spectacular views overlooking the lake. The room was comfortable and clean, although quite small as the en suite has been squeezed into the bedroom. Not a reason not to stay here. There is a restaurant on the premises, but the short funicular ride takes you to the centre of Como with loads of excellent restaurants to choose from.

The staff were not the friendliest people.

This is a gem full of character. Very friendly and helpful staff. The location, just metres from the top of the Como funicular is great. Very nice to leave the crowds of Como to go back to your quiet room! Rooms small but comfortable. Exceptional views from the rooms facing the valley. It has a good restaurant, also with great views. Nice breakfast buffet. If you happen to travel by car, be prepared for the hairpins in the way up and make sure you book a parking spot with the hotel.

Nothing really. No fault of the hotel, but just be prepared for waiting times of an hour or so for the funicular, when coming up at the end of a nice day, when lots of people come up to enjoy the view!

The views are amazing, the staff are great and the food was tasty!

The only thing I’d change is the wooden bed frame being so noisy, just turning in bed would wake all in earshot. (Room 5) but the view and facilities outweighed that!

The Location might be nice in spring to autumn but in winter really not. We booked the place because it said it had a parking, it was blocked by roadworks. So if the parking works that might be a positive point. The view is exceptional. When there is no fog.

It is a long long climb up into the mountains. Google gets lost once you arrive and the hotel is nearly impossible to find. We asked three locals for directions!! you cannot stop anywhere because the roads are so narrow and the parking is unreachable if you don’t know where it is. In winter I would avoid that place. The cable car is not working during winter season. Google claims it’s open but it is not. So once your uphill you are absolutely stuck. You can take a bus for half an hour but I don’t think that’s the idea if you want to take a cable cop from the top of the mountain to the valley. As there are no other restaurants around you’re also stuck with a hotel Restaurant. Our status were great and our main plates are disaster. Sorry I will never ever be back.
