The Gables Bed & Breakfast

The Gables was the perfect place for our first visit to Matlock . The property is exceptional and the hosts made our stay warm and friendly . Views from our room ( the Derwent suite) were amazing, across the valley looking over to the Heights of Abraham . Both Matlock and Matlock Bath were within walking distance ( although up a very steep hill!) . A perfect base for exploring further afield into Bakewell, Chatsworth etc . Our room was beautiful with every little detail being considered down to the fresh milk in the room fridge , a beautiful China teapot and teacups, wine glasses and a big jar of bath bubbles for the huge freestanding bath . Breakfast was delicious with every combination of breakfast menus provided for . I loved the fresh fruit platter and yoghurt , and the locally produced sausages and bacon were delicious . A perfect place to celebrate a special big birthday . Thank you !

Lovely property with an amazing view. Such quiet surroundings.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. On arrival I was given tea and cake. The room was compact but comfortable. Views were lovely. I’d certainly visit again.

Visitors should be aware that the property is on a very steep hill on a narrow road and access is not easy if you're not a confident driver.

Breakfast and host were great

Room/ bathroom could have been cleaner. And I wanted a room on the ground floor due to disability but was moved upstairs upon arrival
