Zapote Tree Inn

I loved staying here. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and it was spotlessly clean. A lovely boat ride into Flores and the owner and staff went out of the way to make sure I enjoyed my stay. Great views from the hotel with hammocks etc. Great breakfast as well!

The Hotel owner and staff were very welcoming and accommodating.  They made helpful suggestions on places to visit and how to get there.  The owner built this beautiful property years ago, and has a great depth of knowledge about the area, history, plants, people, etc. They helped us arrange collectivo transfers to and from Flores, and around the area, as well as a tour to Yaxha.  The views of the Lake and Flores Island from the hotel were spectacular.  The beds were very comfy.  There is some noise at night, mostly from music across the water in Flores, however with our noise app on the phone and some ear plugs, we did not hear it. I imagine it's definitely quieter at night than being on the island of Flores. The garden is lovely.  It was easy walking distance to the center of San Miguel, the ruins of Tayasal and the Maya Museum.  The dogs were friendly, and it was a big treat to have one of them walk around with us for a day, visiting the Mirador and the ruins.  We did not use the pool.  We were there off season, and were the only guests there.  Because it was off season, the restaurant and housekeeping staff were limited, however the staff that was there cooked us breakfast each day, and offered to change our linens and trash after a couple of days.  There were a few restaurants within walking distance, and it was quick and easy to hop on a boat over to Flores for other dining options.  We spent 4 nights here, and didn’t have enough time to enjoy all there is to offer in San Miguel.  The hotel had purified water available for us to fill our water bottles, and an honor bar.  The price was very reasonable for the accommodations and services provided. The area around the Inn, and San Miguel felt very safe and people were friendly.

Hot water for showers would have been nice, although the water wasn't freezing cold either.

The saff and owners were very accommodating, welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is very relaxed, the view is incredible and the grounds are idyllic with a small pool, and many fruit trees and flowers everywhere. The owners arranged for lanchas whenever needed and to wherever desired. They were very knowledgeable about tourist spots, as well as local history and culture. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Flores as well, as it is slightly cooler in temperature and a lot more quiet and relaxed, just a couple of minutes by boat from the island.

The Inn is limited to local conditions. Some roads aren't paved and water can be an issue for showers together with the entire town. The Inn will do anything to overcome these limitations, if possible, and would keep you informed about any issues
