Shiga Grand Hotel

I really enjoyed my stay at Shiga Grand Hotel - the location is incredible, right in front of the Ichinose ski area and within easy walking distance to the lifts, the staff were amazing and always supportive, and having both breakfast and dinner included made our ski days so much easier.

The only downside was my partner’s mattress, which was quite uncomfortable; we didn’t mention it to reception because we were exhausted every night after skiing and snowboarding, but considering the price we paid, we expected a bit more comfort.

The onsen was awesome, the room was a decent size, the staff were so helpful, and the location was great for skiing/boarding. Easy to visit the snow monkeys (about half an hour bus ride), but remember to line up early (15-20 mins) for the bus or you won't get on. Very easy to get ski/snow board rental from a place in the basement, you can also rent clothes and goggles. Also very easy to get lift passes, with the hotel offering a small discount for 2 or more days.

The beds were a little hard, but the covers were toasty warm. The food was plentiful, but not particularly healthy (lots of fried food) although there was soup and salad available at both breakfast and dinner. Our room was at the corner of the hotel, so there was a bit of condensation on the floor of the toilet which was a bit disconcerting, and any clothes next to the wall got very cold.

We had an amazing stay at this place. The room was clean & comfortable. Aki was incredibly welcoming & very helpful, making us feel like a home away from home. The breakfast being served was wonderful. Dinner was superb! Highly recommend to opt for breakfast & dinner as the food served was really delicious & moreover, there ain't many restaurants around. Best host ever, going above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. We will definitely be back...

Bathroom abit small.

The food was excellent and shiga beer a treat It was well run and management lovely. Shower was great Good giftshop. Good location below Tanneno more ski ope

The rooms. Our room had beds for 5. Thus no room left to move around in or to put luggage for our party of 2. Towels threadbare. Bathroom sink adjacent to the door with improvised shelving from leftover building materials. No powerpoints to charge phones by the beds. Its in Shiga but it aint grand. The lobby is comfy and could be great but it is too cold to sit in
