Guesthouse Tricana de Aveiro

The hotel was older and refurbished nicely, with lots of typically Portuguese features like shuttered windows. Quiet and comfortable, very close to the train/bus station. Coffeeshop on ground floor.

The stairs were circular and super steep, not good for anyone with mobility issues. No elevator. The bathroom was really small, with nowhere to put your toiletries, but otherwise fine.

Room was quiet INSIDE the Guesthouse. In the evenings, motorcyclists were VERY enthusiastic but I was able to sleep. Shower was very good - although it would have been nice IF the showerhead/nozzle was affixed "UP" - but I made do with no true complaints. Because it was not terribly hot during my visit, all was well - however, I'm not sure the mobile room fan/air conditioner would have cooled me during warmer days/nights. I do not recall reading that the unit was, in fact, mobile. There was no elevator which added to the charm. Being across from the train station(s) both OLD/museum and NEW was a plus and the fact that there was a pastelaria directly below the Guesthouse, one 2 doors down and another directly across the street, made the spot - heavenly!

The only REAL negative came when trying to get my bags DOWN the gorgeous stairwell and onto the street for my next home-away-from home. There was no one available to help me downstairs with my bags on check-out. I am VERY, VERY thankful a guest arrived and helped me - SO thankful.

Beautiful, comfortable, clean room in a great location.
