Canopy by Hilton Reykjavik City Centre

The restaurant was excellent and the food was delicious. Complimentary breakfast was a feast of food! The hotel staff was courteous and helpful.

Our initial room was on the third floor facing the street. On Friday and Saturday the bars stayed open until 4 a.m. and the partying and music was blaring. It kept us up all night. At 70 years old we couldn't survive on the lack of sleep. When we politely requested a room change, the staff moved us to the fifth floor away from the street into a totally quiet room. We greatly appreciated the accomodations and the rest of the week was fantastic.

Our 3 day stay at the Canopy was delightful and exceeded all our expectations. Classic modern design throughout (even including an Eames chair in the lobby lounge. Staff was efficient, friendly and very welcoming. The room was equally well appointed, comfy bed, and complete with all the appropriate outlets for electronics. Breakfasts were a bountiful array that will satisfy any taste or appetite. We had dinner one evening in the restaurant and it was amazing; our most memorable meal in Iceland. Only a few selections but the quality, preparation and presentation of our selections more than made up for prices we paid. The lobby also included an 'honesty bar' where guests could get a quick snack, a drink, or a coffee. We were excited to spot several shelves lined with vinyl records (a huge collection we were told that was donated by a friend of the hotel). The front desk offered complementary use of a portable record player in the lobby or for taking up to our room. We found several interesting LPs (my fave was Count Basie's April In Paris LP). We took the Count and a few others to our room for some private listening. Overall the Canopy is one of those hotels where, at checkout, you're sad to leave and where you'll want to return again.

Really, there was nothing we didn't like. Our room was a tad tight and we might have appreciated a few more square feet but it was not a big deal.

Extremely loud music sounding like a night club a floor or two below us until maybe 2 am.

Next to a bar and the patrons kept us up half the night being loud and with loud cars screaming tires. They said for us to call the police. Really?
