Lindartún Guesthouse

Lovely room, comfortable and nicely furnished. The bathroom was beautifully spacious and clean. It was easy to check in.

We thought the kitchen was available as it was described as a shared kitchen, however there was a charge to use it and it was not available in the morning even if you paid. So we left without making our breakfast.

A beautiful country home. Peaceful and quiet surroundings. Very clean and well maintained house. A solo traveller, I got a small room with attached bathroom, which was very convenient. The room was very comfortable and cozy. There’s a kitchen for common use. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and even saw the Northern Lights there! Highly recommended.

The accommodation itself is beautiful. It is a lovely traditional farmhouse, surrounded by a beautiful environment, and the rooms are very nice. It really feels like staying in a proper house on a farm, which we enjoyed very much.

However, there were a few important downsides. The house was quite cold, especially during the night and in the morning, because the heating is turned off from 10 p.m. This was particularly inconvenient because we were travelling in rainy weather and our clothes and shoes were often wet, while there was nowhere to properly dry them. Another issue was the kitchen. We were informed by message that using the kitchen would cost 1,000 ISK and that it could not be used in the morning. However, upon arrival, we were charged 1,500 ISK, and we were told that the kitchen could only be used between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. The fact that it cannot be used at all between 9 p.m. and 5 p.m. was not clearly stated in the original information. This was particularly inconvenient for us because we spent the whole day sightseeing and usually returned to the accommodation between 9 and 10 p.m. For anyone who needs to use the kitchen because of a specific diet or dietary requirements, this is very impractical. Had we known in advance that the kitchen could only be used from 5 to 9 p.m., we probably would not have chosen this accommodation.

Quality furnishings

Not permitted to use the kitchen to eat our yoghurt for breakfast, according to the signs. I felt guilty just using a glass of water for a pill. No coffee on offer.
