Chalet Les Aigles

This large chalet is located in a stunning location on a grassy plateau with rugged mountains behind and a grassy slope looking down into several valleys below. The Chalet is home to a friendly and gracious family whose hospitality is extraordinary. Nathalie and/or Christophe sat and talked with us during breakfast (which improved my French). Our room was upstairs in the back with the valley view. We enjoyed the pool on a hot evening. (In the winter, the village is a ski station.) We based ourselves here for 3 nights, ate evening meals mostly in La Roche sur Foron (we especially enjoyed the superb Flemish food at T'cho restaurant), and always tried to get home before dark since the 15-20 minute curvy drive is hard if you're not familiar with it at night. From this location, you have access to explore all around, from Geneva and its lakeshore towns to Annecy, Chambéry, Aix-les-Bains, and Chamonix.

It was our favorite place to stay of our 17-day trip. It would have been nice to stay even longer. If you are not a French speaker, be aware that the hosts do not speak much English. Also, if disabled, be aware that the rooms are up a flight of steps and that the three entry steps into the house are steep. The bathrooms are not ensuite, but we were assigned a provate bathroom down the hall.

Literie trop dure, une isolation très fine au rez-de-chaussée on entend vraiment tout. Cabine de douche pour petit gabarit sans gel douche, jacuzzi au sous sol sans fenêtres un peu oppressant.
