Welcoming, clean. I believe it has recently been taken over, which is always difficult. Not everything can be done over night. Things take time.

There was no wash basin in either toilet or shower room. Had to go back to room to wash hands, which meant door handles from toilets wasn’t as clean as they would be if a sink was available. Found it difficult to fill kettle up using sink in room. Try used to have cups, tea, coffee nd sugar etc on didn’t fit everything on. Carpet wasn’t fitted all way to the sink in the room. Saying that, it was £60 for the night, which I think was the right amount. As said above, new owners, small things take time. Good luck with your growing business.

In the middle of everything

It was in the perfect location for what I needed. Right in the middle of Barnard Castle so an ideal spot for exploring. Also it has bus stops right outside in case you’re not a driver. Staff were friendly and happy to help with anything. They stored luggage for me for a few hours when asked.

There’s drawers, but no hooks anywhere for coats. There’s a vanity desk to get ready, but no stool to chair to sit at it. There’s a kettle and tea facilities, but the cable is too short so to actually use the kettle you have to put it on the floor. Check out time has now been changed to 10:30 even though Booking.com says 11. So staff knocked on my door just before 10:30 and I was very confused when being told I needed to check out. Thankfully they allowed me until 11 because of the miscommunication. There’s only curtains on the window and it looks right onto other properties so you have to be mindful of privacy during the day. There’s signs of wear and tear everywhere such as homes in the deal around the shower floor and also peeling wallpaper on the ceiling.
