Beautiful property with pools kept so clean restaurants excellent. Breakfast excellent.

The location was perfect close to calm coves perfect for snorkeling. The rooms were spacious and clean good breakfast. The main pools were immaculate and there was always enough sun loungers. The restaurant served good quality meals. The hotel itself is pretty rustic but this is quite charming and sets it apart from all the modern hotels. Cala Fornells is also close to the beautiful Sant Elm and Dragonera area and perfect if you want to visit Soller, Valdemossa and Deia. The hustle and bustle of Peguera is a 20-30min walk away. We recommend hiring a car and the hotel offers free parking.

The pool bar lacks some small snacks such as club sandwiches, fries so you don’t have to go to the restaurant for every meal. Since there is no other option close by this turns out quite costly for a family of four. Our toilet had some noise issues but this was solved by the hotel within one day. The carpets in the hallways could use a deep clean or replacement.

Five-star hotel? You’ve got to be kidding. Beautiful location, spectacular views — and a room that looked like nobody had properly maintained it in years. We had mould in the shower, air conditioning that barely worked, damaged fixtures, water leaking spots through the ceiling, and a plastic sheet underneath the bedsheet. Yes, plastic. Apparently that is the latest definition of “5-star luxury”. The most ridiculous part is the price. This isn’t some cheap roadside hotel where you expect a few compromises. Petit Cala Fornells charges serious 5-star money while delivering a room that, in several respects, doesn’t even meet basic hotel standards. And before anyone suggests that my expectations are unrealistic: I stayed at the Hilton just 4 km away during the same trip. So I had a very convenient side-by-side comparison of what 5-star actually looks like in this part of Mallorca. There is a huge difference between an older hotel having some character and a hotel simply being poorly maintained. This felt like the latter. The location is 5-star. The views are 5-star. The marketing is 5-star. The room certainly wasn’t. It honestly feels as though the hotel has realised that it owns an incredible piece of real estate and has decided that the location can do the heavy lifting. It can’t. If you’re paying 5-star prices, you should not have to wonder whether the ceiling is going to leak or whether you’re supposed to sleep on a plastic sheet. Beautiful place. Seriously disappointing hotel. Five stars on the sign. Very few stars in the room.
