Room was fine, location great

We arrived at 12:30 pm for a one-night stay ahead of the 3 pm match. Our room wasn't ready, so we decided to eat in the bar, having travelled since 4 am with two young children. We ordered three starters two hours before kick-off. Our drinks took 40 minutes to arrive, and after 90 minutes, there was still no sign of our food. With two hungry children and kick-off approaching, we had no choice but to leave. When I explained this to the bartender and offered to pay for our drinks, his exact words were "tough shit mate", and he insisted we pay for food we had never received. Yes, those were his actual words. Rather than risk missing the match, we reluctantly paid and left. I appreciate match days are busy, but the hotel should be well prepared for that. There was obvious chaos in the bar, with food being returned and other customers experiencing similar issues. Making two hungry children wait 90 minutes for food that never arrived is bad enough. Being told "tough shit" and forced to pay for it is absolutely disgraceful. Completely unacceptable service and an appalling attitude from a member of staff.

Refurbishment following change to Lyf branding really works well

The rooms are a great size

They are redoing the hotel and forgot to mention this to me on check in. From 8am the jackhammers start right next to my room-I could not make a phone call it was so loud. Apparently they are redoing the whole hotel and will be doing so for the next couple of months. I find it really terrible of the staff to not mention this on check in. Phone in room was broken, remote was broken, aircon didn’t work. Ordered a drink through the manager twice and it just didn’t show up.
