The Lister Arms

Some places are just clearly well run and friendly, and the Lister Arms is one of them. Hospitality is central to everything they do, from the comfortable accommodation to the food and beer, all served with a smile. The food was superb. It’s on the pricey side, but when ingredients are this well sourced and prepared, the taste speaks for itself. We loved the menu. On our way up to the Dales, the pub called to say a water main issue had left them without water. They moved us to the Lister Barn, a short walk away, and we had our evening meal at the Buck Inn, their other village pub (which only opens at weekends in autumn). We were lucky they had those options, as our stay might otherwise have been cut short, but they pulled out all the stops to make sure guests weren’t inconvenienced. The dedication of the staff was obvious. A final plus point, my wife has mobility issues, so couldn't possibly have walked up to Malham Cove, it turns out that a charity (Access The Dales) stores a heavy duty mobility scooter at the pub which we had booked in advance - this just made the visit that much better. We’ll certainly return. A great base for exploring the Dales.

Lovely clean and cozy room, with a good quality bed. The Breakfast was excellent and the quality of the evening meal was great. This hotel is ideally located for hiking and amazing walks.

I have no improvement suggestions as the hotel totally met our expectations.,

We were located in the Lister Farmhouse rooms and they were beautifully decorated and well presented. Comfortable bed with a nice seating area with 2 armchairs for relaxing in. Modern bathroom with very nice Bath House toiletries. The jar of shortbread biscuits were delicious also…
