Residence Acanto

Nice apartment with a lovely terrace, well equipped and clean.

A bit too many stairs for my liking.

Location is 5 min. walk from the hydrofoil port. Our room was spacious, clean and airy. Our patio was beautiful with a nice view of the city. The bed was comfortable. The suite had provisions for cooking on our own which we did every day for breakfast and dinner. We had our meals on the patio. The Wifi worked well. There was a nice pool and large deck with tables and lounge chairs overlooking the city. The hosts were friendly, attentive and accommodating. The location was central to anything you will need to do in town. 2 minutes from the castle / museum and 5 min from a nice food store. There are many nice restaurants, options for tours and a diving center nearby. The hosts will be happy to offer suggestions for things to do and help arrange activities. While the area is lively on the main street at night and in town squares, this particular residence is off the main road and was very quiet when we stayed here from Sept. 11th to Sept. 16th.

There really were no negative aspects for us. I can't imagine a nicer place to stay on Lipari. Our particular apartment was a walk up of several floors. Most places we have stayed in Sicily are also walk ups.

It's a charming, old-fashioned apartment, but well-kept and clean. The bedroom is big with high ceilings, which I'm sure is an asset in the hot summer. There are two small balconies on the bedroom, but the patio at the front door is the best place to sit, with parts of it in the sun most of the day and parts in shade. It's away from any busy road, so it's quiet.

The kitchenette is inside a cupboard. There's a sink and a stove, but no counter space, so you have to use the table to prepare food. It's really not set up for any serious cooking. I missed having a tea kettle, but we just boiled water in a pot.

Everything - location, amenities, the bed, breakfast, the staff. It was a perfect stay.
