Alexander The Great Hotel

The Alexander the Great is a small, no-frills hotel in Alexandria, and I have grown enormously fond of it. I have stayed here several times now, and one of the loveliest things about returning is being recognised by the staff and greeted not simply as another returning guest, but almost like a long-lost member of the family. That matters to me. There is a genuine kindness and friendliness here that simply cannot be manufactured by expensive furnishings or a long list of facilities. The atmosphere is relaxed, warm and wonderfully human, and it is one of those places where the people become part of your memories of the city itself. Perhaps appropriately for a Scotsman reviewing somewhere called the Alexander the Great, I should point out that we Scots have occasionally been accused of having rather high opinions of people called Alexander! But this little hotel doesn't need grandeur or greatness in its surroundings. Its greatness is in its people. The location is very nice and vital, close to everything, very nice shopping and restaurants area.

Noisy sound heard due to building maintenance at weekend time Unit at the first floor at shared building with other tenants Was not able to use the elevator Paint smell at the room if not using AC Not able to replace the room because of noisy sound
