AXSUR Design Hotel

Staff was friendly (Thank you Pablo & Carolina). Bed was comfortable, I had a double bed w/Sea view and was able to open the window, housekeeper came every 2 days and cleaned the room (very nice lady w/blonde hair). Location is spectacular!! The Rambla is 1 one block away and offers excellent walking along the water, in the other direction (2 blocks) you have walking, cafes, restaurants, stores, and easy access to downtown area of Montevideo. The area is safe and I felt comfortable walking around even at night.

The kitchen area only had (2) coffee cups and glass… no plates, no utensils, therefore I found this area to be wasteful space in the room.. I had a sink and small refrigerator but I couldn’t eat any food without a plate or heat up anything without a microwave… I would have preferred a sitting area over this large counter space for a sink and small fridge. Overnight there is no staff, though I felt safe, and I had a keypad to enter a code to leave or re-enter the building.. The breakfast if not included in your stay is $15 USD (up the road is less expensive and you can watch people walking by).. just minor complaints but overall I was happy with the location, room, and staff

Don't let the exterior fool you (it is very nondescript), this is a great hotel. I had a wonderful room, it was quiet, had good water pressure, hot water on demand, good temperature controls, comfortable bed, and it was clean. The elevator worked perfectly. You name it, the hotel was great. Plus, the location was superb. In the middle of Old City, Montevideo, easy walking distance to everything a tourist would want to do in Montevideo - literally everything.

Nothing. I really liked this hotel.

The hotel was near enough to walk to the port and the old town center. We had a great view of the promenade and sea from our room. The lady on reception was very helpful on our arrival and even though she couldn't speak English was happy to use Google Translation to help us locate places near to the hotel. The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was adequate.

The hotel was a little further away than we expected from the bus station, however we did manage to get a local bus to continue our journey. My own fault as I thought I had researched it so this is just a comment to help others as 3km is too far to walk with luggage.

Location

Too expensive Breakfast: very limited choice, you have to wait for the staff to bring you food, cups, plates ets. Not a buffet Three thin slices of cheese three transparent slices of ham Milk and cereal unlimited. Breakfast starts at 8:00, the employee showed up at 8:20. Probably it would not matter, if I did not have a ferry in the morning Staff basically doesn’t exist. The same lady who served breakfast was opening the door, giving advice, etc. the actual reception person come on some afternoons when they expect arrivals We stayed there 6 nights, I saw him twice
