Our 5-night stay started on 11/09/26 and when we arrived, the staff were very helpful and courteous. We were pleased with our room at the front of the hotel (Rm 226) which had a balcony with fabulous views of the garden and surrounding hillside - I had requested such a room on booking, as it had formed part of their advertisement for the hotel, and they obliged. We had pre-booked an evening meal in the hotel (Greenhouse Restaurant) and weren't disappointed with the service or quality of the food/wine. Due to the weather, we decided to spend most of the next day in the hotel and made use of the various facilities, including a well-provisioned gym and swimming pool. Kendal itself was perhaps a 15-minute walk from the hotel, but we drove down one evening and parking in the town was not a problem. We had booked to have breakfast each day too (this was also in the Greenhouse restaurant with fabulous views of the garden and countryside), and it was certainly worth it as the food quality continued to be excellent and the service too. There was an occasional coach group that filled out the dining area, but never to anyone's detriment. We didn't go to Alexanders Pub, but it looked nice and we intended to go, but time got the better of us. We did manage to dine again in the Greenhouse restaurant on our last night and again had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Check out was as efficient and pleasurable as the check-in

Only very minor things - it would have been good to have more scheduled swimming times for residents over the weekend and more fruit at breakfast i.e. fruit salad, bananas etc. The hotel required a £50 pre-authorised transaction on my credit card, which is still pending almost 3 weeks later.

Spotless and great location The staff were so nice

£10 a night car parking charge was unacceptable, absolutely disgusting and just a way of making money. You could tell the staff were very uncomfortable taking the money off you. Based on the amount of people staying they must make over a million pounds a year probably a lot more. They are making an awful lot of money from over priced drinks and other things and I accept that but the parking is not nice. They have a big sign saying if any damage is caused to your vehicle its not there responsibility well it should be if your paying for it . I would like to see if they response to this.
