Sudbury House

Wow!  Absolutely amazing.  Surprise dinner, bed and breakfast break with our family for my husband’s 70th birthday.  All three rooms were lovely, clean and well furnished.  The lounge/bar area was comfortable and relaxing, especially with a few drinks and lots of laughter.  The evening meal was 1st class in all respects, a good variety of choices and very well presented. After a good night’s sleep, breakfast was excellent. A good choice of food, all freshly prepared to perfection. All the staff were so polite and friendly.  Nothing was too much trouble, we just had to ask.  We were particularly impressed by Shona, who seemed to be willing and capable of serving us in the reception, the bar and the restaurant, my goodness, a lady of many talents!  A smart young Yeston served us for breakfast, I was amazed when he asked if I required special items to cater for my dairy allergy, I don’t recall this ever happening at any hotel we have previously visited. All said and done, the stay was lovely, all positive and we would highly recommend the Sunbury House Hotel.

The bed was comfortable. Nice bed room. Good shower and bath.

The breakfast is very expensive £15 and awful. Poor quality bread… cereal. The breakfast room was clinical and corporate. Only a handful of people eating … we were all placed together in the centre of the huge room…why? It would have been better to seat everyone near the gardens and block off the rest of the room making it a bit cosier. No coffee pots only coffee on request …a cup at a time. No tablecloth? It all felt very impersonal.
