The Fox by Greene King Inns

Room was great, very well arranged, comfortable and had all that was required. Also our room was made up every day without us asking for it to be done. Lovely stay in the room.

We decided to have a drink there on our first afternoon. No Gluten free beer at all. So then. Oh dear, we decided to have dinner on our last night as we had an early start the next day. The restaurant was busy and there were just two staff on. Both seemed to be exhausted and lack lustre. It took ages to get served, when we did order drinks the lady had to go to get ice. She was gone a fair while, too long. We sat at a table and ordered dinner, the waitress didn’t write the order down, she said she had to remember it. My husband wanted lamb kebab starter, alas they had run out. So he ordered prawn which was average and I wanted garlic mushroom starter. Husbands starter came out…..mine after at least a five minute wait. The garlic mushrooms were very “ripe” . Too old and I couldn’t eat my starter. I ordered pulled lamb shepherds pie. It came out in an incredibly shallow dish and the top of the pie was burnt and crispy. It was served with old sad carrots, processed peas too. At £16.95. Disgraceful. The dessert was very good for both of us. Bad, less than average food. Beautiful pub, great rooms, lack of staff.

we didn't eat at The Fox as we had made prior arrangements but standing in the bar the food looked well presented and everyone seemed to be content. The room was beautiful - clean and comfortable

From what we experienced there wasn't much we could ask for improvement on

Comfortable rooms, good location, easy parking

Light switches were faulty. Aircon had a clicking sound (room 2)

Very convenient and great parking

Breakfast was pretty dreadful
