Although the official check-in time is 2:00 PM, the hosts kindly allowed us to check in 6 hours early at no extra charge. The property is about 1.2 km from the main road and easily accessible via a well-maintained road. ​The hospitality was truly wonderful, the owners went out of their way to help us with everything. Our room was very comfortable and came equipped with a mosquito net and warm blankets. The bathroom was spotless and well-stocked with fresh towels and tissues. ​The real highlight was having breakfast with a beautiful garden view; the traditional rice and curry they served was absolutely delicious. They also arrange their own safari tours, which is a huge plus. Overall, both the room and the owners were fantastic. Highly recommended!

Everything was wonderful! Just as a tiny note, the access road is a bit dim at night, and you might hear a little sound early in the morning as the hosts start their day, though neither affected our great stay.

Loved absolutely everything about our stay at Rock Lake! The home stay family was the sweetest and we had the best time in Sigiriya because of them. Very generous and the room was perfect. We did a safari through them and it was such an amazing experience. Would highly recommend staying here.

Negative thoughts might well be based on the weather( it never stopped raining) and our advanced years Hard to tell if the host was truly concerned or just keen to stroke us and leer into our faces. It was most off putting but considered against all other reviews as kindness. Welcome warm drinks in the gloom . Breakfast juice was fantastic. The shower was hot and powerful. The driver and jeep for the safari were brilliant if a little show offy , but maybe all the more fun to pick out huge holes in the track!

Regardless of the weather the bathroom tiles are a danger to life. Glazed and therefore slippy after a shower. The toilet leaked across the floor. When asked what time for dinner,despite what we suggested, she forced it to be 18.30. At which point the food was still cold, but plentiful. There was an air of sales going on re: tuk tuks, and safaris even before we had asked. Towels were see through ( for us the norm in Sri Lanka) The seating area outside the room was dull ( weather again) and hardly improved by one bare lightbulb. The lack of a room squeegee to mop up the bathroom floor. The hosts washing drying in front of the terrace ,obscuring the view of the rain!6
