It was acceptable sleep for a very low price. You cannot expect anything more for this money

The room is very small and basic, but clean. The hostal is on the second floor of a locked building. I rang a buzzer to hopefully get let in, but ultimately had to wait until someone came to open the door. There is a very old, rickety elevator to get you to the second floor, whereupon you get met with another locked door. This time the receptionist answered the door soon after I buzzed. I was given three keys to access the room with instructions as to which key opened which door. I preferred to walk down the stairs rather than wait for the elevator, but the hallway was quite dark. The neighborhoos is busy and diverse. There is a great market across the street, El Mercado de Maravillas, and a good place to change money a couple of doors down.

Lighting in the hallway would make it much easier to walk up and down the stairs and make it safer. Also, they should have signage outside to let you know how to get in the building if you ave a reservation and you are just arriving.
