La Gemma

I stayed at La Gemma during July for three days. As a female solo traveler, it was the perfect spot--good location located near public transport, and the building/appartment itself also felt safe. Yes, there are many stairs to climb to reach the apartment!--This did not bother me at all, but is worth mentioning. On the day of my arrival, Gemma texted me with a photo of the outside of the building to ensure I could find it okay, and she remained easily reachable via whatsapp for any requests. Every morning Gemma prepared a wonderful breakfast for me (she had sent me a little menu before my trip to check off the items that I would like to have) and it was fantastic. She also gave me ideas of what to do in the city, described which areas had the good pizza, etc. A very caring and insightful host. Cold bottled water was also available for purchase (1 Euro), which was so needed during the hot summer. Aircon worked quickly. Toiletries in bathroom were plentiful and lovely. Bed was comfortable. Also, the room is so quiet at night! No city noise keeping you up even though being in the center of the piaza. Just a lovely, homey place to stay.

For those who prefer a "room with a view", Gemma lets you know beforehand that the apartment is on the top floor with windows on the ceiling. For me this was perfectly fine, as I only returned to the room to sleep, but for those who like to look outside over the plaza, this is not available with these apartments.

The host (Gemma) welcomed you and was very gracious. Made you feel like home.

Excellent service from Gemma. I was headed to a wedding and she was kind enough to offer to iron my shirt and jacket. Rare to find that in a bed and breakfast these days
