The Mansion on 17th, formerly Schaefer Haus

We unfortunately had to reschedule our visit three times due to my husband's health. The Mansion were very kind and understanding to make the changes and we finally got there in September. I loved being in a period house on the Island as it set the mood for our stay. Thinking back on how they had to manage made us feel grateful for the wonderful accomodations we had during our stay. Being so close to the beach, downtown and the piers was good as it was easy access to those Galveston treasures. Thank you for a wonderful stay. All the staff were so ready to assist and kind to fulfill our requests.

There was nothing to improve, we had a wonderful visit and thank you for working with us to get us to finally stay with you.

The cocktail hour and breakfast were great.

It is a beautiful historic home in a residential neighborhood with many awesome gingerbread houses. The staff was amazing. Our room was spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed. We liked having a balcony to sit on in the evening. The daily happy hour and breakfasts were great as well.

We had trouble using the TV remote-probably user error! Had to get used to the A/C unit—it could be a little noisy at times.

Reminded me of the home I grew up in.

I had a 8:30 am meeting. I was offered to leave my bags in an open office that I’m assuming was secure. A couple who checked in after me was offered to leave their luggage in the room they were staying in until they were ready to pick them up. My room was small. I stayed there one night. It wasn’t gonna take much to clean my room before check in. I thought it was puzzling at the least that a couple who checked in after me was allowed to occupy a room with their luggage and I was instructed to bring my over night bag out of my room.
