It was simply all we needed, a room for the night with en-suite facilities, nothing more, nothing fancy. IN fact, it was just like being in a cabin on-board an overnight ferry in terms of facilities and comfort. No rough seas though!

The confusion regarding payment. We were sent instructions about the self-check-in system and it was clear that the hotel wanted us t use that. It then requested a card payment, which then resulted in a message to say that our check-in was not complete and that we had to go to reception after all. Meanwhile, the payment went through. Them when catching up on emails later that day, I saw that booking,com had already taken payment two days previously (I hadn't been able to check emails). So, I've paid twice. The receptionist didn't know what to do, so we had to wait to see the manager in the morning. She gave us an email address, I've emailed them and so far had one unhelpful response which simply referred to the self check-in system!! Our daughter, who worked in hotels until recently, said that it will be easy for the hotel to check their booking.com payments and should issue a refund. We wait and hope!
