Click Hotel - Taipei Main Station Branch

If you looked for a modern hotel lobby, you won't find it. In fact, that would be where your ride -- if you panicked and didn't meet the one you pre-ordered through the hotel (cash-payable surcharge for the missed ride: NTD 500) but ordered another at the airport -- will unceremoniosly drop you off if you gave the address provided by the hotel. Now, mosey on to the left to the building's corner, flanked by a popup tofu vendor, Grandpa's Egg Tarts and a sex shop. Look for the 1970s lift that will whisk you up to the 5th floor. You will be deposited to the pleasant and calm reception area of the Click Hotel where you won't find friendlier, helpful, and more hardworking staff (including the one-man cleaning crew -- superb), a clean room (if windowless) and functional bathroom. The lobby area also invites you to hang out quietly and even prepare food (with free snacks and drinks, which we didn't partake). There is even a single washer (NTD 50 per load) and dryer (another NTD 50) for guest use. The hotel is located within steps of the Taipei Main Station and its eponymous MRT stop; it is even walkable to Ximending. Everything about this hotel is very well run and we will certainly be back!

Maybe better signanage for the Click Hotel? It was lost amongst all the other signs.

Convenient location near the Taipei Main (Railway) Station and the subway are both nearby. Lots of food choices both in the underground mall and near the hotel. It has a coin-operated washing machine and dryer, which is very handy and the hotel has all day supply of coffee/tea and snacks at the reception.

Just to level set, it is a budget hotel - the rooms are basic but the common use areas have the amenities that are very handy when traveling - space to sit and have a take-in meal, washing machine, free all-day supply of snacks and coffee/tea. It is great for a short stay especially if one intends to be out all day sightseeing and just need a clean place to sleep and relax in between the sightseeing activities. For the price the hotel charges, one cannot complain.
