Chequers Hotel

We only stayed at Chequers for one night as we was attending a wedding near-by but was pleasantly surprised with this quirky historic building. Although you do have to watch out for various small steps for different levels and steep stairs. John messaged us early to let us know our room was ready and we could arrive early if we wanted. We initially asked when booking if they could provide a gluten free breakfast and this was no problem at all and they reassured us with messages throughout and on arrival. Chequers provides a lovely range of cooked breakfasts, cereals, fruits, yogurts, juices with teas and good coffee. The interior is mainly made up of vintage, restored and antique pieces which if you took a liking to something the owners may be open to offers as this is a side interest of theirs.

Stairs and steps was a bit tricky but understandable.

Homely uncomfortable and very clean. Breakfast was excellent with great selection of fresh fruit, fresh yoghurts. In all, everything was to a great Standard

My only slight grip was that the mattress was very hard indeed.

Breakfast was superb and the staff couldnt have been more helpful and friendly. It’s a beautiful location and house.

We would have given top rating but we were in a front bedroom which backs on to the main London road so it was very noisy with traffic especially afternoon and early morning so windows needed to be kept tight shut. We are sure that if staying in a back room, a with a slightly less creaky bed the stay would be totally perfect and we can not criticise anything else. The pretty breakfast room was around the back and totally quiet.
