East On Byron Bay Apartments

Very spacious well equipped and comfortable unit. Short walk to great eateries and beach. Pool, spa and outside lounge area great and private. Allocated undercover car space.

Our apartment was clean and tidy and fresh towels were set out. Beach towels were available and we were able to wash and dry these if needed. The apartment had a dishwasher and dishwashing tablets were provided. There was an electric BBQ if you chose to use it but BBQ tools were quite limited. Very basic provisions were available. Comfortable beds and pillows and adequate number of coat hangers. A nice 20 min walk to the township - easier than driving and having to park Free parking spot allocated with booking. Upstairs double bed with a separate bathroom and also a single bed.

Check-in - what a nonsense! We had prepaid accommodation and advised we would be arriving after 3pm. This was out of office hours on a Sun. We provided details of one of our party on the premise this was to receive check in details and a code for our unit. The day before check-in we received a message asking for photo ID as well as pre-payment of the security bond which took us to an external website to pay the bond. Unfortunately (or fortunately) none of our credit cards were accepted.... but this meant we could not complete pre-check in. We sent various messages to explain this and eventually got one back to say that reception had by-passed the pre-payment link for us and told us what to do regarding the getting out check in details out of the key box. The code we had to get in to the key box did not work for us and it was only because someone else was checking the key box that we were able to get our envelope out with details of our unit. If this is the sort of requirement, then someone should be available in the office for after hours check-in, or there needs to be a more straighforward check in process. We never saw any one at the reception desk over our 3 night stay and we weren't going to hunt them down to complete the check in process. This is also not alwasy a suitable arrangement for people who are on the road with limited access to internet and data in order to do this. It is not ideal being directed to some US website that offers a reduced bond payment that is non-refundable either! The locks to the unit gate needed attention. The gate lock was stuffed and needed major rattling and jiggling to get it to open. Other gate locks (universal key) also seemed wonky. The apartment we were allocated also had a damp/drain like smell as if someone had spilled water on a wool carpet! The blinds in the bedroom were all unconnected to the slides. These things should be checked before making people pay damage bond No oil for cooking

The location and the kiosk at the front of the property. The apartment was furnished well and the beds were very comfortable.

Checked in after hours as prearranged arranged but no remote was provided for the carpark so it couldn’t be accessed. No one answered the phone when we rang for assistance. The apartment looked out onto the rubbish bins at the back and an apartment wall at the front. No outside furniture on the upstairs sun deck and non supplied when requested at reception. This was one reason we selected this apartment/ resort. The apartment smelt like old socks when we arrived.
