Wendy and her family were wonderful hosts, from our initial booking communication until we left smiling and waving at the end of our stay! We can echo all the other good things other reviewers have said. The guesthouse is part of the family home, with a nice communal/welcome area where Wendy and her young daughter patiently helped with our translated questions and shared some of the family's plantation tea. She also provided a wonderful breakfast. They were kind to pick us up at nearby Fenqihu and later give us a ride back to the guesthouse after dinner in Shizhuo town, trips that would have been tough with luggage and uphill road walking at night. The location higher up in the hills provides stunning views of the surrounding tea fields and mountains, which can be enjoyed from the huge picture windows in the quadruple mountain view room (or better yet from the many trails themselves). The room was spacious and clean and sleeping was peaceful and comfortable — no issue with the beds. Hiking the trails in the tea fields and meeting some colorful characters along with way were highlights, as was Wendy's smile and kindness while sharing her home and life with us. Highly recommended stay/experience in Shizhuo!

An unforgettable homestay on a tea farm. Located right at the start of a terrific hiking trail. Our room had a large window that overlooked the tea farm. Rooms also come with a sample of the farm’s oolong tea which we sipped on which we watched the clouds and mist roll over the tea plants. The host was incredibly kind and accommodating as well! She offered to pick us up from the bus stop and frequently offered us rides to/from the town center throughout our stay since the homestay is located uphill and approx 15 mins from the town center.

The location is right amongst the tea plantations on the way to Alishan, and the beginning of Fog / Misty trail (a part of a 3 mile loop through the area with lots of scenic spots) begins right next to this homestay. We splurged and got the most expensive room which had an incredible view during sunrise, sunset, and even during regional rain, beautiful bathroom and design. Not all of the rooms have that view, so I’d highly recommend booking the top room if you’re making the trek up to Alishan. The hosts were soooo warm and welcoming, drove to pick us up from the Shizhuo bus station so we didn’t have to worry about carrying luggage uphill in the rain. They also have a really friendly senior cat, adding more charm to the place. I’d definitely go back to the same place if some forest / nature therapy is needed.

Served cold coffee at breakfast. No milk was available. Bed was very hard. Shower was an odd bucket with attachment.
