I've stayed in a handful of hotels in the <$15 US range. This wasn't the best or the worst of them. I read several reviews by people who seemed to think a budget hotel would meet their 5-star expectations. Silly! This place is clean and comfortable, and Mo at the front desk went above and beyond, helping me achieve the best possible outcomes while exploring the island.
Hotels like this are in a precarious position. They don't charge enough to fund proper renovations, so they're in a "death spiral" as things naturally wear out. There were obvious areas where maintenance would be relatively cheap and straightforward and would preserve their investment, but that maintenance doesn't appear to be happening. Overall, though, that's not really my area of concern! But if they put a bit more effort into maintenance, the guest experience would also be positively impacted.

The room is clean and spacious with good location nearby Koh Toch pier which is great.
It’s a little bit steep to go up to the guesthouse so it is a little hard.

The staff is super super friendly and helpfull. The location is close to the pier where the boats dock.
The bathroom had no hooks for hanging clothes or a towel while showering. Normally no problem, though the shower is open and small, so you can't put your clothes on the floor either. The sink didn't have a shelf above it for my razor/deodorant etc.
