Alexander The Great Beach Hotel

This is our 3rd visit here and it’s still wonderful. Clean, inviting, friendly, good food and very relaxing

The large swimming pool and, in particular, the allocation of pool beds for the entire holiday and the provision of pool towels every day. The food choice and quality was excellent. The friendly staff: Jordan in the Garibaldi restaurant; Raju in the 7 Orchids restaurant; Vlad in entertainment and the 2 pool fitness girls; Marta and Mieran serving drinks outside the lobby area; Segna(?) in charge of seating in the Cafe Royal and admired for taking part in the Cypriot night dancing.

The Limanaki restaurant was a disappointment after the great experiences in the other restaurants - the Cypriot themed night in the Cafe Royal was much better than the Limanaki Cypriot menu. When we arrived, we asked reception to book a taxi to the airport on the day we would depart and duly paid €40. On checking at reception the day before we left, we were told the taxi wasn't booked and were asked to go to Customer Services to book it, which we did. We had to vacate our room by 6pm so sat in the lobby area from 6pm waiting for our 7pm taxi, having given our luggage to reception to look after. When no taxi had arrived by 7.15 we asked reception where the taxi was, to be told one hadn't been booked. Given airport deadlines we found this somewhat stressful - reception immediately rang for a taxi but we needed a 6 seater for 4 adults, each with luggage. A standard Mercedes saloon arrived which wasn't big enough but fortunately a 6 seater had arrived for 2 other people so we were able to swap. It was an unpleasant way to leave the hotel.

The location was perfect Staff were friendly and welcoming Food was great with plenty of vegetarian options We liked having allocated sun loungers

Although we enjoyed the chocolates at bedtime, we would have preferred to have a bottle of water daily, especially as it was so humid

Relatively clean, pool activities were nice, pool assigned sun-beds is very nice

The rooms had a smelly carpet Towels smelled awful Water pressure was low and hot water was on and off The AC was limited to a high temperature and they did not lower it. Some of the staff were impatient, after one question they were tired of us.
