Hotel Viking

Easy check-in. Nice staff that was very helpful to change the date on my booking due to a flight cancellation.

The decor was really fun, lots to look at! Bed was comfortable and our room was large. Good job water pressure. Staff was very kind and helpful and made us sandwiches to take with us in the morning because we had to leave early to catch our flight. It was nice to be a ways out of Reykjavik which made it easier to get to the airport on time.

There was no notice about the construction in the parking lot (had to turn around in a small space into busy traffic and find another parking lot), several of the lightbulbs in our room were out so it was quite dim, shower was very small and not separate from the floor so the bathroom floor got soaked. The ambiance of the restaurant was really fun and matched the decor of the hotel. One of us enjoyed their meal, the other was disappointed.

It was very cool decor. Kids and Viking enthusiasts would love this place. A lot of attention to detail on decor in the common areas, so that was fun and interesting. General location was good. It was clean. Breakfast room was fun and food was fine, but it is poorly laid out causing people to constantly be in each other's way.

Where do I start. At the beginning. It took 30 minutes to check in! And there were only 3 parties ahead of me. Their computer system was down, so I felt bad for the clerk since I know she was doing the best she could, but they should have sent her help. Our room was right next to the jacuzzi so we had to keep our curtains closed the entire time to avoid bathers looking directly into our room - sometimes we could even hear them talking and laughing while we were trying to sleep. The water was the most sulphur tasting/smelling of all the 8 lodging places we stayed during our Iceland trip. Really undrinkable even using our filtered flask. The bathroom sink was the size of a postage stamp - there was room for a larger sink or the same sink with a bit of a vanity. There was no place to set your things and every time you used the sink, water would splash onto the floor. Parking is extremely limited - we had to park quite a ways away in the neighboring church lot. We received no room housekeeping during our 3 night stay. On our 3rd day, our keycard stopped letting us into the building so I had to go back to the reception to get that resolved. All in all, it wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't great. Would not likely stay again if we return to Iceland.
