GHL Hotel Lago Titicaca

Really engaged staff, that are all exceptionally helpful. Including the breakfast staff, and the exceptionally helpful bartender Paul. The beds are super comfortable. The rooms are nicely sized and the view of the lake from the rooms are top notch! Breakfast was great. To me the smoked fish tasted a bit “muddy”(?). Maybe that’s just the local sourcing.

Some details feel a bit dated or out of place. The single glass sliding window panels without insulation is weird for a location that is just above freezing temperatures outside during the night. The room temperature was fine. It does feel like there was a bit of a toilet smell every now and then during the night, and I wonder if that is due the hole in the bathroom floor and if all the plumbing is top notch? It brands itself as a five star hotel, but it doesn’t seem to have all the amenities and nice touches.

Very clear and very polite was the stuff. Excellent breakfast.

The view was onto the lake, which was amazing. The food was great in the bar and the restaurant. The hotel is located on a small "island" onto the lake with cozy walkways around it. We had a run in with some alpacas and had a very chill time there.

Honestly, nothing stands out.

The beds were comfortable, the shower powerful and hot, the staff were friendly and the breakfast was incredible! The meraki message was one of the best messages I have had.

This is not a 5 star hotel. It may have been when it first opened, but it is tired and dated. It’s 3 star at best. We booked it so we could use the spa but the jacuzzi but it had been out of order for some time and we were not informed, we would have changed our plans if we had known at is was not worth the money. We were not offered any compensation or even a good will gesture. There were major refurbishments going on in most rooms and a strong smell of paint.
